Please accept my condolences for the loss of your dear loved one. I will always remember when Jim was a volunteer for The Montour Pharmacy and delivered perscriptions to my Mother, Geri Haughey. She always looked forward to his smiling face and cheerful manner.

Oakfield, NY Dear Ruth, Wendy and family,
I was very sorry to hear of the loss of Jim. The few times I was at the house on the lake all seem to have a memory of your dad. Wendy, I remember how we use to compare stories of what our dads had done. Where the time goes.
Please know that your entire family are in our thoughts and prayers. Keep the faith.

NYSP Horseheads First, let me express my condolences to the entire Powers family. You are in my thoughts.
I met Jim (Kojak)when I began work at the Horseheads Barracks as a dispatcher in 1980. I have two distinct memories of him. The first was when he was working Scales. He and his partner just came in off the road, and Kojak was reading the Daily News at the front desk. His partner lit the corner of the paper on fire. Kojak didn't bother putting out the fire; he just kept reading the paper. It was my introduction to pranks at the station. The second memory was just after the 1980 Olympics in Lake Placid. Kojak was working the desk. Nothing unusual there, except he had no voice and was recovering from a bad cold. When I asked why he didn't go home, he replied with, "Why waste a good sick day".
