Loving Mother & Grandmother Anna F. Sims
Age 95, of S. Glen Ave., Watkins Glen, NY, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, February 23, 2009.
A loving mother and grandmother, Anna was born in Bath, NY to the late William and Kathryn Fluent. She worked as Head Operator for New York Telephone Company in Watkins Glen. She was a member of St. James’ Episcopal Church, member of the New York Telephone Co. Pioneer’s Group, Eastern Star Fern Chapter #142, Montour Falls, Watkins Glen Business and Professional Women's Organization (BPW/USA), ABC Board Member, and volunteer for the Schuyler County Board of Elections.
Anna is survived by her two sons, John W. Sims, of Troy, NY and James D. (Marie) Sims, of Chicago, IL; sister, Beatrice Wells, of Bath, NY; and five grandsons, John Matthew, Andrew, Daniel, John Leonard, and Michael. She was predeceased by her husband John H. “Jack” Sims in 1999; and sisters Dorothy Johnston and Ruth Bulkley.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6-9pm at Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen; funeral services will be held Thursday at St. James Episcopal Church at 11:00am; Rev. Michael H. Hartney officiating; burial at Lakeview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. James Church, Schuyler County Ambulance of Southern Tier Hospice in Anna and Jacks memory.
